Job Responsibilities

Trains in the operation of a tandem dump truck. Trains in proper maintenance techniques, while performing duties using manual labor during roadway and right of way maintenance activities. Areas of work may include, but are not limited to, signage and pavement markings, driveway installation and maintenance, construction of drainage appurtenances, maintenance of drainage appurtenances, litter/debris removal, vegetation management, bridge maintenance, and patching /paving. Trains in the operation of front-end loader in order to remove material from right of ways. Operates power tools breaking out sidewalks and curbs for driveway construction and other concrete or asphalt pavement repair jobs. Operates standard dump truck with snowplow and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges. Sets up Traffic Control and flags traffic to protect the crew and motoring public. Trains in the operation of backhoe. Performs other related duties as assigned by Supervisor/ Resident Maintenance Engineer.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A tenth (10th) grade education and one and one-half (1.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. NOTE: This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver's License are available. Class A Commercial Driver's License must be attained within six (6) months of placement in the position.
