Job Responsibilities

Operates 5 and 10 yard standard dump trucks, and flatbed trucks for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Removes litter, debris and dead animals from roadway and right-of-ways. Installs the required traffic control components within a work zone. Performs basic snow plowing procedures including proper equipment use for specific snow/ice conditions. Trains in the operation of heavier equipment such as tandem dump trucks, front-end loaders, self-propelled belt loaders, steel wheel and pneumatic rollers, and specialized mowers. Performs duties using manual labor, in such maintenance tasks as clearing of right-of-ways, cleaning drainage ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, repair to bridges, paving driveways, and laying sideline/cross line pipe. Performs other related job duties as requested by supervisor.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A tenth (10th) grade education and one and one-half (1.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. NOTE: This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver's License are available. Class A Commercial Driver's License must be attained within six (6) months of placement in the position.
