Job Responsibilities

Patriots Point is Looking for 3 Temporary Painters:

Job Responsibilities: Perform as a member of a working group responsible for painting and preservation of the ships, buildings and piers owned by Patriots Point Development Authority.

Perform skilled procedures including the ability to properly prepare the various surfaces for painting, and utilizing and maintaining equipment such as scrapers, chipping hammers, sanders, wire brushes, scalers, deck crawlers and needle guns.

Safely and properly uses paintbrush techniques, rollers and various spray equipment in the application of primers and finish coats. Perform preservation work and maintenance which includes high, vertical surfaces and other remote areas using appropriate scaffolding when required. Safely and properly handle the waste products generated during painting operations. Serve as a crew leader, and as shop supervisor in the absence of the supervisor.

Adheres to all safety and environmental regulations required by the Agency.

Employee may be required to work after normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, emergencies, and/or special events. Employee is in a position designated as an "essential position", therefore, employee may be required to stay onboard USS Yorktown as part of an emergency crew during named storms to provide support during the storm, to conduct post-disaster damage assessment, and to take initial recovery actions following the storm. May be required to perform other duties as directed in meeting the mission of the Agency. Performs other duties as assigned to accomplish the mission of the Agency

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Trade experience directly related to the area of employment. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Knowledge of techniques needed and skills necessary to properly utilize equipment used in the performance of duties as a skilled painter. Ability to serve as crew leader; assign tasks to workers and allocate materials and equipment to complete assigned tasks. Knowledge of safety practices and regulations. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used as a painter. Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Skill in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work. Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision.

Employee will function with limited supervision, at times. Most of the time, specific written or verbal instructions will be provided, however, in some instances, the employee will be call upon to utilize his/her discretion in accomplishing tasks.

The position requires rigorous physical activity in a shipboard working environment. Must be capable of climbing vertical ladders, with the added ability to work from high, vertical surfaces while performing preservation and maintenance work; lifting 30 pounds and walking long distances in a single work day. Safety must be the employee's number one concern at all times.

Relevant trade experience.
