Heavy Equipment Mechanic - ME0219
Sanders Brother Construction is currently seeking a self-starter field mechanic to assist in the maintenance of Sanders Brothers’ vehicle fleet. The Mechanic will be a major contributor to Sanders Brother’s 50+ years of success in the construction industry.
The service mechanic will provide on-site repair services for vehicle fleet used to support construction related projects in accordance with Department of Transportation and company safety guidelines. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic must demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Diagnosing, repairing, adjusting or overhauling mobile mechanical and pneumatic equipment including but not limited to excavators, crawler dozers, front end loaders, skid steers, backhoes, brooms, rollers, graders, pumps, and water trucks.
Produce timely and detailed service reports
Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols
Consult equipment operating manuals, blueprints, and drawings
Perform scheduled maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating parts
Continuously learns new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
Maintains an organized neat and safe vehicle repair bay.
Weekly travel required
Welding or soldering broken parts by using gas or electric welders
50% of time will be spent in the field on site, other 50% of time spent in the shop.
Test parts and systems to ensure that they are working properly
Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined
Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, giving tune-ups, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires
Ability to test run machines
Qualifications and Education Requirements
5 years of mechanical knowledge relating to electrical systems, welding and fabricating experience, and equipment repair, hydraulic system, safety and repair, diesel engine experience.
Must have own tools.

Three (3) year Motor Vehicle Record Required.
Vehicle electrical and air conditioning system diagnostic and repair.
Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B
Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment
Valid Driver’s License and provide 3-year motor vehicle record which meets the minimum operating standards in accordance with SBCC vehicle operation policy.
Undercarriage component knowledge
Extensive knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical repair, and safety procedures
In-depth knowledge of methods of operation and maintaining different types of heavy construction equipment
Skilled in operating and inspecting heavy equipment or machines to diagnose malfunction or defects
Possess ability to modify, repair and overhaul constituents of equipment
Skilled in maintaining records in terms of schedule as well as preventative maintenance carried on heavy equipment
Possess strong computer and electronic knowledge
Commercial truck repair experience
