Job DutiesActivity1. Performs skilled carpentry work to alter, repair, install, and maintain doors, door frames, windows, window frames, ceilings, walls, porches, floors, and other woodwork within campus dormitories, facilities, historic homes, and office buildings. Repairs stairwells and stairways in various buildings. Replaces door handles and doors, cutting doors to fit mountings, etc. Ensures that work performed does not damage the historically significant facilities of the College, many of which are in excess of 100 years old. Responds to assigned work orders with a sense of urgency and ensures appropriate and timely resolution. Operates mobile electronic device to access, update, and complete work orders to include all appropriate information to reflect action taken, labor hours, parts, materials and other historical and cost related issues.Essential or MarginalEssentialPercent of Time35% Activity2. Demonstrates ability and expertise in the installation, repair, and alteration of drywall and formica. Responsible for installation and repair of tile (vinyl, ceramic, stone, glass and porcelain) to alter, repair, install, and maintain flooring, walkways, walls, backsplashes, etc. Executes work on an individual basis, assisting the lead trades specialist and/or in a training capacity, depending on the individual's skill level and expertise.Essential or MarginalEssentialPercent of Time25% Activity3. Assists in all phases of carpentry work and instructs entry level employees in more complex carpentry projects. Works as part of a multi-craft team on large projects where construction, renovations, and repairs are accomplished under a strict deadline and in accordance with specifications and building codes.
