Forklift Operator

Position Overview

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, & responsibility):

Perform all duties using safe work methods.

Comply with corporate absenteeism and tardiness policy.

Work normally scheduled days adhering to starting and stopping times. Work overtime as required.

Inspect assigned job at the beginning of every shift.

Communicate any problem or concerns to the supervisor in a timely fashion.

Must actively participate in weekly clean-ups.

Maintain housekeeping standards.

Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Must be able to print tickets from the computer ensuring accuracy of the information.

Must be able to identify the appropriate wood species that are needed for the designated production run..

Must be able to safely maneuver a forklift at all times in compliance with established forklift certification procedures.

Must complete established daily forklift checks and maintain proper documentation.

Must immediately report any structural, mechanical, or other forklift defects to your forklift to your supervisor.

Must follow all policies and rules set by the company and handbook.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Must be able to read and use a measuring tape.

Must be able to use a computer to print tickets.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to stand or sit for a full 8 to 10 hour shift.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs occasionally.

Requires repetitive lifting, pushing, and twisting motions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work overtime if needed.

Must have the ability to work well with others.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Must complete orientation training session.

Must be willing to attended weekly and monthly safety/ production meetings.

TOOL, EQUIPMENT, & MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Responsible for safety equipment issued including safety glasses, ear plugs and gloves.

Responsible for materials and supplies.

Must follow safety rules related to all equipment.

SAFETY & SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

Must maintain a safe and clean work area at all times.

Must report any unsafe conditions to supervision.

Must report all accidents no matter how slight to supervisor immediately.

Must wear personal protective equipment at all times while in the designated areas.

Must comply with all plant and department safety rules and regulations.

Work Shift

8 hour, evening shift
