SC Department of Public Safety Trades Specialist III (61036269) in Darlington County, South Carolina
During SCDOT employment, performs maintenance duties in the Hartsville Crew. Operates a tandem dump truck to haul materials to and from job sites. Operates large backhoe with front end attachment cleaning berm ditches and loading trucks with various maintenance materials, laying pipe and full depth patching. Operates motor grader plowing earth roads and shoulder work operations. Acts as Crew Leader in the absence of the Foreman. Uses hand tools to perform manual labor as necessary for highway maintenance such as a bush knife cutting sight areas and slopes, a shovel patching potholes, cleaning curb and gutter and assisting maintenance crews as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements: A 10th grade education and three and one-half (3.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
A valid commercial driver's license (Class A). Note: This position requires a valid commercial driver's license. However, applicants without a valid commercial driver's license will be considered if no qualified applicants with a valid commercial driver's license are available.
A valid commercial driver's license is required within six (6) months of placement in the position.
