HRP Associates, Inc. Process Safety Engineer in Greenville, South Carolina

HRP Associates, Inc. is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to join our Health and Safety Compliance team in Greenville, SC and/or Farmington CT. This role will provide technical, hands on assistance on occupational health and safety compliance projects for a wide range of industrial clients. This is an excellent career opportunity for a self motivated yet team oriented individual to work with an experienced consulting team on a wide variety of projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Types of work and responsibilities will include all aspects under both developing and maintaining compliance programs under OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) and EPA Risk Management Planning (RMP), in addition to identifying sound recommendations and evaluating control options for various types of covered processes. Responsibility will also carry over into other OSHA general industry and associated industry standards (e.g. ANSI, ASHRAE, NFPA, IIAR). Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain OSHA PSM and EPA RMP programs for various types of covered processes at client facilities;

  • Scribe and/or lead Process Hazard Analysis studies using various methods (i.e. what-if, what-if checklist, HAZOP);

  • Perform periodic program evaluations and audits of existing OSHA PSM and EPA RMP programs;

  • Assist with the development of site specific training in addition to administering training for both PSM and RMP covered processes;

  • Participate and/or lead Management of Change and Pre-starup Safety Review events for new process or following significant system modifications;

  • Evaluate equipment services manuals and work with equipment supplies to develop ongoing periodic maintenance programs;

  • Support technical assessments and provide interpretations for various topics under OSHA general industry; including the development of compliance programs and standard operating procedures;

  • Participate in general Environmental Health & Safety compliance audits across a variety of industries and site locations;

  • Develop and administer training under various OSHA general industry topics;

  • Provide on-site health and safety compliance support at client facilities which may include the implementation and hands on development of on-site programs such as completing site specific lock out tag out procedures, machine guarding, and confined space entry assessments, pre-start up safety reviews (PSSR), industrial hygiene monitoring, respiratory protection, arc flash, routine inspections, client training and similar support.

  • Prepare and deliver health and safety training in industrial compliance

  • Actively participate in HRP’s internal health and safety program

    Assist environmental compliance team as needs arise

Requirements

  • Minimum of Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Environmental, Safety/Fire) or other related field

  • 3-12years of related experience

  • Working Knowledge of CAD

  • Proven and demonstrated knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Regulations and associated standards (NIOSH, ASTM, NFPA, NEC, etc.)

  • Certification or licensing preferred (ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH, PE, etc.)

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing

  • Ability to provide on-site and webinar based training to audience or varying sizes (<500)

  • Ability to travel within North America and occasionally abroad

  • Proficient in Microsoft software package

  • High-energy individual who is goal-oriented and results-driven

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams

  • Proven self-starter; takes the initiative to identify and drive change

Additional desired capabilities:

  • General knowledge of environmental compliance matters (hazardous waste management, SPCC Plans, Storm water Plans, EPCRA reporting, etc.)

  • Construction management;

  • Equipment verifications;
