Operates Durapatcher in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures proper preventative maintenance is done in accordance with SCDOT Fleet Safety and manufacturers operation manual. Patches pot holes by cutting out area, adding tac and asphalt, when tamping for a good seal. Paves Interstate and turning lanes using good techniques. Uses shovel and other hand tools to ensure the area is level and that all loose material has been removed. Operates the slope mower in cutting back right-of-way. Performs proper maintenance on mower which includes grease daily, ensure blades are sharp and deck is kept clean. Ensure all mowing signs and safety guards are in place before operation begins. Performs preventive maintenance and minor repairs to tractor such as changing tires, blades and replacing light bulbs. Flags traffic for protection of workers and
- motorist. Assists in the placement of traffic control devices for work zone safety according to the South Carolina Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. Operates 5 yard dump truck to haul debris and asphalt. Checks the gas and follows the preventive maintenance program daily. Ensures tarp is in place and all loose material is removed from the sides of truck and tail gate before operation begins. Works with shovel, bush axe, chain saw, limb chipper, pole saw and sling blade to dear site areas and right-of-way by hand and to remove dead trees. Ensures all safety equipment is used when operating tools and equipment. Operates mower/bush hog in clearing site hazards. Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A 10th grade education and two and one-half (2.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.
This position requires a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. However, applicants without a Class A Commercial Driver's License will be considered if no qualified applicants with a Class A Commercial Driver's License are available.
Class A Commercial Driver's License must be attained within six (6) months of placement in the position.
May be required to work overtime, nighttime, and/or weekends during hazardous weather or emergencies.
