SC Department of Public Safety Electrician Technician I in Richland County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, CFSH/PPS Maintenance-Electrical Shop. Join our team. Our Agency's mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina. As the Electrician Technician, you will be under general supervision, performing trade related duties of considerable difficulty, requiring a high degree of skill and technical knowledge in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, fire alarm, and other control systems and equipment throughout the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Responsibilities include, but is not limited to, performing installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment, maintenance and repair of fire alarm and sprinkler systems and associated equipment, installation, maintenance and repair of control systems such as: keyless entry and surveillance equipment. You will maintain up-to-date records of all repairs made using a computerized management maintenance system. These duties and others are performed throughout the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Two (2) positions are available. * Minimum and Additional Requirements *State Requirements: A high school diploma and experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year-basis. Program Requirements: *A high school diploma and four (4) years' experience in a related trade area or any combination of training/experience that would enable the employee to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this position. *Note: *If any Agency/Program Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position. Additional Comments The selected candidate is required to work in a variety of environments, work overtime as needed, on-call and times of emergencies. Must have considerable knowledge of tools, equipment and material used in electrical maintenance and construction through knowledge, techniques, methods and practices of the trade. he position also requires the candidate to have the ability to interpret blue prints and specifications. *Supplemental questions are considered part of your official application.
