Job Responsibilities

This position is located within the Division of Facilities Management and Property Services - Horticulture of the Department of Administration. Under limited supervision, the incumbent assists in the provision of quality and efficient landscape maintenance services to state owned facilities. Performs heavy off-road and landscape equipment operation duties associated with landscape projects and hauling operations. Operates off-road and landscape equipment to include but not limited to dump trucks and trailers, aerial platforms, front-end loader/backhoes, trenchers, bucket trucks, small compaction equipment, chain saws, tractors, commercial mowers, etc. in conjunction with department needs. Performs trash and debris removal/hauling operations. Inspects and repairs minor damage to surface parking lots. Assists and supports other Horticultural staff operations including but not limited to mowing, blowing, fertilizer and chemical applications, irrigation repairs, landscape construction projects, etc. Completes required records and documents such as equipment inventory and time sheets. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma, a GED, or graduation from a vocational school with four years of work experience in the operation of various heavy off-road and landscape equipment and trucks (including but not limited to dump trucks and trailers, aerial work platforms, front end loader/backhoes, trenchers, bucket trucks, small compaction equipment, chainsaws, etc.).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of the operation of heavy off-road landscape maintenance equipment such as but not limited to dump trucks and trailers, aerial work platforms, front end loader/backhoes, trenchers, bucket trucks, small compaction equipment, landscape maintenance equipment, etc. Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a Class A CDL within six (6) months from date of hire. Requires routine driver duties, and incumbent will be subject to Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing rules. Incumbent must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds, and frequently bend and stoop. Incumbent may be required to work evening, weekends, and on-call/call back shifts. Incumbent may be required to report to work during emergency or hazardous weather situations. Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge in areas of landscape maintenance, tree care and maintenance, and chemical application is preferred.
