This position is located within the Division of Facilities Management and Property Services of the Department of Administration. Under general supervision, the incumbent provides building electrical maintenance services in order to efficiently and effectively repair and maintain Facilities Management owned and contracted buildings. Assists with maintenance, repair and renovation tasks of other various trades and complete all daily time sheets and record on all assigned tasks. Identify, recommend and request equipment, materials, supplies and training needed to ensure necessary resources are available to complete work tasks and offer guidance, promote teamwork, cooperation, and work to resolve challenges. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma or an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources regulations and experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of electrical systems.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of national and local electrical regulations and code requirements. Knowledge of trade safety practices. Skill in making emergency repairs and adjustments to trade equipment. Basic computer skills. Incumbent must possess a valid South Carolina Class "D" driver's license. Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans, specifications, and equipment manufacturer's technical bulletins. Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work in confined spaces; hot, hazardous and noisy locations; and in adverse weather conditions. Position requires 37.5 hours per week and is subject to 24 hours per day off-duty calls. Position may require incumbent to work evenings and/or weekends. Position requires participation in the on-call program on a rotating basis.
