SC Department of Public Safety Trades Specialist IV in Richland County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities

The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace. All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.

This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, DOAS/PPS/Electrical Shop

Under general supervision, employee performs trades related duties of considerable difficulty, requiring a high degree of skill and technical knowledge in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical, fire alarm, and other control systems and equipment throughout the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.

Install conduit, flex and wire for computer systems, sound systems, telephones, and electrical equipment. Performs electrical repairs per routine work order requests. Install light fixtures, receptacles, and light switches. Install new electrical systems in remodeled areas per E-17 small project work order requests.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirements: A high school diploma and trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

*_Agency Requirements:_ *High school diploma and two (2) years of experience in a related trade area or any combination of training/experience that would enable the employee to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this position.

Considerable knowledge of the tools, equipment and materials used in electrical maintenance and construction through knowledge, techniques, method, and practices of the trade. The ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
