SC Department of Public Safety HMW II Crew Leader (61034716) in Sumter County, South Carolina
Serves as crew leader on the drainage and work order crew. Produces daily records of work performed and materials used, enters records into HMMS and the maintenance request and complaint forms. Performs manual labor in building catch basins, pouring concrete for curbs and raised median, laying pipe for driveways and other drainage structures, repairing shoulders, clearing right of ways and repairing bridges. Operates CDL vehicles for hauling material such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Operates a heavy duty excavator in cleaning side ditches, trenching for pipe, laying pipe, and loading trucks with filled material. Conducts and documents pre-operation vehicle/equipment inspections. Sets up traffic control according to the SC MUTCD standards to warn motorists of roadwork ahead. Instructs crew members daily in safety practices, such as flagging operations, wearing PPE, vehicle safety and working with hazardous materials and waste. Operates various pieces of equipment in snow and ice removal as necessary and during other emergencies. Investigates complaints of property owners and recommends action to be taken.
This Position is located at District 1 Sumter Maintenance.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Two (2) years of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations. Necessary Special Requirement: Requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
