Eaton Corporation EHS Manager in Sumter, South Carolina
Eaton Corporation located in Sumter, SC has an opening for an EHS Manager. This position is a leader of people and has responsibility for two manufacturing sites.
Reporting to the plant manager, this position is responsible for developing and leading EHS directives that foster a Zero Incident Safety Culture. The EHS manager ensures compliance with EHS programs via consults with appropriate plant personnel while utilizing tools such as Lean Manufacturing, six sigma and ProLaunch. The EHS Manager develops and facilitates required training on EHS regulatory issues, and also writes and updates EHS regulatory plans and programs. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Maintains site certifications, ensures accurate and complete EHS reporting of metrics and closure of MESH and regulatory agency findings
Manages intermediate communication with public/government authorities
Directs actions during crises.
Facilitates risk assessment at site based on advance knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Determines leading/lagging indicators to track performance.
Supports creationof goals for the site manager and appropriate goals for leadership team, functional managers, and supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance, and results.
Works with leadership team and MESH element champions to complete annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state, local regulations.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
Minimum seven (7) years of experience in the environmental, occupational health and safety field
Minimum one (1) year of experience managing people and/or cross-functional project teams
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
Master’s degree in occupational health and safety from an accredited institution
Certified Safety Professional
Prior experience managing ergonomics programs
Minimum of three (3) years of Project Management experience
Prior EHS leadership in a high volume manufacturing environment
Knowledge of state and federal occupational environmental, health and safety and health laws and regulations.
Knowledge of workers compensation administration
History of success with driving a Safety Culture and Zero incident environment
Effective oral and written communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and performance assessment skills.
