JOB PURPOSE:

Personnel shall have a minimum of two (2) years’ knowledge troubleshooting and repair of CCTV systems, camera lowering devices, Digital Message Signs, electrical circuits up to 240 volts AC, locating underground utilities, ITS maintenance specifications, work zone safety, and must be certified as an IMSA Fiber optics for traffic & camera systems, shall possess knowledge in troubleshooting and repairing fiber optic cable to include terminating, splicing, testing, documentation. When fiber optic maintenance or installation is not available preventive maintenance will be performed such and weed eating and cleaning filters and servicing cabinets. The Fiber Splicer/PM Maintenance Technician responsibility includes the technical skills to perform installation and service maintenance for a variety of ITS field devices; including but not limited to variable message signs, IP/analog CCTV Cameras, video encoders/decoders, DMS overhead signs, Highway Advisory Radios, wireless modems, Video Walls and ATMS Software. The technician will be familiar with basic theory of operation and connectivity issues associated with copper, fiber optic and coax cabling. They will also have the skill and knowledge to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various types of electrical, networking or mechanical problems. This position will work with SCDOT and other contractors to install new ITS field devices and to implement a preventative maintenance plan for all types of ITS field devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs ITS response maintenance for ITS field devices; including portable message boards, overhead message signs, cameras, video encoders/decoders, ATR devices andhighway advisory radios, basic fiber theory of operation and connectivity, wirelessmodems, ATMS Software, switches, routers, cabling and connectors.

  • Available 24/7/365 for emergency callout.

  • Installs new ITS DMS, IP/analog camera and ATR systems.

  • Familiar with configuring and troubleshooting on TCP/IP and serial networks.

  • Familiar with various types of video encoding (H.264, MPEG4), as well asmulticast/unicast video streams.

  • Performs ITS preventative maintenance for ATR Devices, DMS and IP/analog cameras.

  • Follows all traffic safety rules while performing duties.

  • Follows all SCDOT and company safety rules.

  • Performs other essential duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics andother industry- specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-3 years of prior hands on experience in a related field or Service Technician.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Associates degree in related field preferred or demonstration of equivalent experience.

  • Prior experience working in a team-based environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with co-workers, management,

  • and customers.

  • Basic understanding of traffic Safety and working safely on the Interstate highway and

  • secondary roads.

  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently.

  • Must be able to inspect/wear necessary PPE as necessary.

  • Must be able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.

  • Must be able to traverse various terrains.

  • Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.

  • Must have transportation to and from the show up location.

  • Must be able to maintain attention during dangerous tasks.

  • Must be able to lift, move and maneuver 50 pounds or more on a frequent basis.

  • Must have endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight- or ten-hour day.

  • Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work).

  • Must have sufficient eyesight to judge distances and coordination to get and use the appropriate equipment and tools.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • CDL preferred.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

  • Must be able to pass a background check
